Aside from the forum-wide rules, this board has only three real rules:
  • NO POWERGAMING/GODMODDING - How this board defines the preceeding words: Powergaming - taking control of each others' character(s) without implied or direct permission from the character's owner/creator. Godmodding - abusing an overly powerful character so as to twist the RP to your ideas and plots as opposed to the topic creator's and/or others' involved. Breaking this rule can have serious consequences, depending on the severity of the case. Please refrain from doing either of them.
  • NO INVADING - A pretty simple rule: don't post in a topic and try to take it over. In fact, don't even post in a topic unless you know everything that's gone on prior in it or at least a good summary. If it requires you to read the whole 10+-page topic, read it or don't get involved. There is a difference between joining an already-formed RP and contributing and invading it. Know that difference.
  • MARK A TOPIC WITH RP-STYLES - There are many different playstyles amongst the millions of RP boards on the internet. The two main ones I've noticed over my 7+ years of role-playing are free-form and closed-form. Free-form practically neglects the powergaming rule except for very disruptive and/or abusive cases. This allows for some freedom in plot conception, design and redesign, and contribution without really taking from the role-playing element. This requires a bit more effort from each player, however, in knowing any given character's profile at any given time so as to appropriately role-play a character. Closed-form disregards this concept and instead opts for complete individual character control. While this can constrain a few things on the flow of creativity, it doesn't hinder the game any as it then forces each player to contribute personally with their own characters. This can only become a problem should a player go AWOL and no one can RP their character(s) without explicit permission. Obviously, should someone give permission to play their character(s) while they're away, then it's fine. Otherwise, topics can oftentimes become stuck waiting for one or more people to reply. Please choose one style for your topic/campaign and stick with it by marking it either "(F)" (Free-form) or "(Cl)" (Closed-form). While it's not mandatory, it may lead to some confusion amongst players if you don't. Also, unmarked topics cannot be properly moderated as they could be assumed as either free-form or closed-form and thus can take the characteristics of either. For this reason, any "unmarked" topic is considered "closed-form" for the purposes of moderation.
